The Dawn of Light Website Team has been busy providing some updates to the website over the past few days.
DOL Articles
We are proud to introduce to you the brand new (self made
) DOL Articles section, which replaces the old wiki that we feel wasn't very user friendly.DOL Articles is located at http://www.dolserver.net/articles/ and can be reached at the Topnavigation via "DOL Server">"DOL Articles".
We have a number of ideas for this section, and welcome the community to try and create articles and use the system, we would greatly appreciate feedback on how you feel about this, what you think needs to be worked on and what you like. Replies can be made directly to this post or in a private message to a team member.
We have created the Articles Team which will be maintaining the Articles section together with the Website Team and the DoL Administrators.
DAoC Portal Changes
We have made improvements to the server listing part of the site, the layout has changed with the servers being displayed in the main section and the news showing on the right. The news titles have been given a bigger size than the author. We have also enabled servers to have a short description of themselves, which is displayed directly below their name on the server list. We hope this will break the practice of having information in the server name.
Server logos have been added next to the server entries on the main list, and on the view server page the logos are automatically resized if they are too big, also the server admins avatars are displayed and the name is bigger, a good example is http://www.dolserver.net/daocportal/server.php?s=24
We have fixed some of the graphs and re-added them to the server pages, you may now use the yearly graph, these features is only for supporting servers.
We have made further refinements to the View Server page including more text information instead of lists, we have enabled server admins to post news about their server and for recent server news to be displayed on the page.
Finally we have cleaned up the Edit Server page, so it should be a little easier for admins to manage their server.
DOL Homepage
The DOL Homepage colours and layout has been redesigned, with further work in development. It now has a DAoC related image based off the wonderful 10th Anniversary DAoC Image. We have changed the sections that are displayed and the content, added DAoC related images and added a copyright footer to the bottom of the site.
User Files
- User Files section now has a link to create a new topic and some text direction
- Updated the layout of the user files table to be a little easier on the eye.
Other Changes
- Added a custom 404 error page
- Avatars can now be uploaded
- Avatar max width and height is now set to 128px up from 125px
- You can now use externally hosted pictures on forum posts using the IMG tag.
- The website can once again send mail, (this includes mails to users, and forgotten passwords)
