héhé that's old :) 1.7 iirc ? it was abandonned due to severe performance issues (/summon Etaew, i was not really on DOL at this time)

love the graphical overlay too. why was it abandoned?

I would guess performance aswell. There's no need to have the graphical overlay, its really just wrapping the console into a rendered GUI.

A better tool would be a remote access control, that would allow admin to log in, listen to player chat and issue commands etc. That can all be done via IRC now, but perhaps a GUI could be beneficial here for ease of use.

On my Linux Box I use "GNU Screen" as a container for the DOLServer Console...

GNU Screen allows to make a multi-layer console (more used for it's Multi-Window ability...)
I can attach/detach, send command, read history... of the DOL container ;)
And even split Console to use other tools in the mean time (like a small area with "bc" util which is a console-based calculator)

But honestly I'm dying to take some time and make an easy web interface to the DOL Console (with C# Binding to listen for query on localhost, then it's up to you to make a reverse proxy to access it remotely and add security layers...)

As a System Admin I will never use a GUI based service, and even DOL >interactive< Console is some kind of heretic to me :D
