Geshi, i am not a cheater and i am also not a teen anymore but.... I LOVE PLAYING ON UTH :mrgreen:
so it's not a teens and cheater server.

He was referring to the non Uthgard servers that the above poster thinks is full of teens and cheaters. :)

Uthgard is a fine server, but they split from DOL a long time ago and the code has gone separate ways. We do cooperate with them on a regular basis and have regular contact with the folks that run it.

I was wondering already to read such words from gesh :) Couldn't really imagine he would refer to Uth, but hey, you know me. Loyalty to Storm is one side on me but the other side of me would fight till death to counter injustice :) I know that both servers Storm/Uthgard parted a long time ago but i also see that in both world the devs have put a huge amount of effort. I love both servers (well actually 3) Storm/Uth/ and the incredible D2 Shard from Tola. I would fight for each single one of them. Ok don't let me get to pathetic here, you guys know what i mean :mrgreen:

above theses points, you have to consider some pretty different goals related to DAoC emulation. The main Uthgard goal is to run successfully a server, while DOL goal is to widely spread the best DAoC server side emulator.

Running a shard is giving into an highly concurrential environment. In a past time, running some features DOL does not have was an excellent way to attract players.

Long story short, i believe theses are 2 concurrents and hardly conciliables opinions. This doesn't avoid shards to help us and viceversa :)

Uthgard will never accept contributions the way DOL does, and for good reason. One of Uthgards selling points is stability, which is why they split from DOL in the first place.

For the same reason I won't submit to DOL anymore, to anger Tolakram with his Storm stability in case something goes wrong. What I may do however is work on some collaborative specialised projects, like pathing in association with both servers.

There are some shards that have things working that are not available on Storm. I wish others would help out by at least donating working code. Don't get me wrong, I wish I could help but when it comes to this stuff I am in the dark. Once I get done with College and move to a University and learn some more... Well I hope to learn enough to start contributing. You all work so hard for people who don't care, so Thank You all!

Hi all,

I'm a litlle frenchy , i'm 34 years Old, and next to long time i just come back to DOL.

I played DAOC at the beginning of the game and stopped when Wow started.

Why is it important for this topic?

Just because after long years i came here because it's plaisure to see what communauty do moreover the communauty exist. and the better..... all existing with same spirit....

Today, and it's the same when i discover Dawn of light, i haven't got any knowledge in any "code".

But i just starting to translate in my own language and , with my humble mean, give little work to the communauty. (when i share it)

If You stop to share all you're job, it's a way ( and i think it's honnest, it's your work) but unfortunatly you can't give a chance to people like me who can help with idea or just little thing.

I think knowledge is better when share....

Just come to give you this opinion.

And just this : Thanks for all the job.... to all developper !

Wow. This topic died shortly after my last visit! What's the state of DOL these days? I can't believe it's been over two years since my last appearance here. I almost didn't find the place since my old links were all broken. Nice to see so many things working now that weren't working when I last played. Last visit was: Fri Jul 29, 2011 2:27 am :shock:

Yes, but many are not working :) Main problem is the lack of 1.109+ support, that would need a lot of resources.

Not really, just less hassle for players.. there wouldn't be any hassle if DAoC Portal automatically downloaded the dll for the players though.. but apparently that's a bad idea, no idea why.
