Old Vendo Man Model / Berserk Skin

Postby Svennsk » Sun Dec 11, 2016 12:21 am

Hey all.

I am trying to figure out how to bring back old vendo mode on my server and so far I am having zero luck. It looks like we are using an updated model from the installer and, rather than introduce a new model for the new bear, it used the same model as old berserk and replaced it wholly.

Does anyone have any ideas on whether or not the old vendo model is still available? If so, tips on implementing would be greatly appreciated.

We looked into using a different skin from another vendo, but it felt more like a generic band aid AND it does not account for the mini bear for dwarves.

Any help would be huge!

Thanks,

Sven

Hi Svennsk.
Vendo models are replaced so you can't retrieve it. Additionaly, the models that can cast spells and do styles by players are pretty rare.

Do you know, are the models stored in the .dds files within the .mpk files? I tracked down an original install disk so I do have access to the old models. Now it's just a matter of finding them and replacing them.

Thanks!

Hi Svennsk.
1. If you are an old client, SHARE !
2. For player models, show in figures, fig3 if i correctly remember.

I am thinking it is a little more complex than that though. I tried swapping out my figures files for the ones that Uthgard uses and my bear mode was still new bear mode.

Is it possible that there is something else impacting this on either client or server side?

The model id can be changed too but i think not, too complex for compatibility ...
Do you set characters models to pre-catacombs in game options ?

I just double checked my models. I was set for catacombs. When I set to classic, the berserk mode stayed as new bear mode.

Also, it looks like the Dark Age of Camelot\figures\fig3 folder contains armor skins, not bear mode/npc/player skins.

Correction. fig3 does house models, not skins.

For posterity, fig3 appears to be an expanded database of the figures folder, just with .nif files (models) packaged inside of .mpk files.

Just following up. Here is what I found.

In the skins folder, skin112.mpk has a file called vendo_man.dds. This is the original vendo mode skin.

Still in the skins folder, skin153.mpk has a file called bearform_01.dds in it. This is the new berserk skin but replacing this .dds file does nothing.

In the mskins folder, mskin037.mpk has bearform_01.dds. This is the new berserk skin but replacing this.dds file does nothing.

Still in the mskins folder, mskin039.mpk has bearform_01.dds. This is the new berserk skin and replacing this REPLACES new bear mode.

The new problem. Swapping out this file replaces the skin but it still skins the vendo mode on the new bear model.

Now I am trying to figure out where the new bear model is stored.

It looks like fig3/fig013.mpk has a file called bear_head01.nif and that is the model that controls old bear mode.

It isn't as simple as swapping out that model for the vendo model though.

I am now completely out of ideas and am so close to cracking this.

I think in gamedata.mpk there is a file which overrides older models with new catacombs models. I don't have my notes here on that archive, but it might be worth checking it out. I think fig3 tends to refer to models from catacombs, which is why I suggest the above may be of use.

Look in monsters.csv, at the various vendo entries. All specify values for Cata NIF/body/head etc. I would guess this causes the engine to override the original models - try removing these values and see if the old models still work.

It is way way more simple as you all say couse the vendo man model of berserk and the vendo model for berserk are both in the new db you just need change the model and the icon id for berserk mode the icon i dont know atm but i can do research if you wana but the old berserk mode model is: 392
you need use it as lifedrainreturn on the vendo spell and its fixed
DOL dint only gaved me the data to start my server,
it also gaved me 16 amazing years with nice peeps,
and now its on me to return the favor.
