New char window, hotbar setup

Postby Kavine » Sat Apr 11, 2009 10:14 pm

For those of you that have a certian way they like their chat/combat/misc windows, and other windows, ie: profile, Status, grp, etc, and dislike redoing every window everytime you make a new char, I have the fix for you.

Under your game folder, mine being, C:\Games\Dark Age of Camelot - Labyrinth of the Minotaur, to give example. There is a file, well more than one, but all are same per resolution you use, as I use 1024 so I use the default1024.ini. Make a char, or use one you have already created, setup his hotbars and what not. Leave all hotbars empty, so new char has no ? ? ? everywhere. log out so it saves. find that file, if your char was named testinghotbar, then the file will be testinghotbar.ini, and prob in your mydocuments, but you might just have to do a search for that. Copy that file, and paste it in game dir, delete defaultxxxx.ini of your choice, or of all. and rename the char one to defaultxxxx.ini.

This is a crude explanation, but I never said I was good at explaining things :) hope ya understand it hehe

I was looking all over for this the other day. I hope it still works in 1.98.

So was I, so decided to bump it when I found it :)

1.95 works fine, don't think Mythic made any major changes

With the new crappy single window defaults it makes this even more valuable.

Sounds like a good add-on idea for DAOCPortal. Parse the existing config files, and let you update config files with simply positioning info, and keep the hotbars, etc.

If you use a non-standard resolution (for example, I use 1440x900 on my widescreen), there are no default .ini files that I have found. Any idea how this could work? I have tried just naming the file default1440.ini but that didn't do it.

started back playing again but now I don't have xp, I am using win 7. took me a while to work this again haha, now the Character.ini files are located in. C:\Users\Kavine\AppData\Roaming\Electronic Arts\Dark Age of Camelot\LotM Which appdata is hidden, and Kavine would be your user name. just for anyone that needed this info. not sure if vista is same way, but guessing it is, or close
