Gandulf's Quest Designer

Postby dragonfire » Sat Feb 14, 2009 12:38 am

Ok, for those having problems with the Quest Designer in the user files section, svn version or just want a simple installer here is the solution. I have packaged this up with all the updates I have done in a simple installer program. Keep in mind that I did not create this program only updated it to keep it working with the newer server revisions. Credit goes to Gandulf for the creation of this program.

You can download the Quest Designer installer only from here http://rapidshare.com/files/198242852/QuestDesigner.exe

You can download the Quest Designer Maps from here http://rapidshare.com/files/198378147/Q ... erMaps.exe

Enjoy!

EDIT (Dinberg 10:34 9/11/11): Files may be found on SVN now

Good job Dragonfire :)

I did find some minor things to keep in my mind when using this program, when creating a new mob through the designer some basic values are a bit off: RespawnInterval has recently been changed and should be set to 0, else your mob won't respawn :P
Also MobSpeed probably should default to 200.

Isn't it 191 for speed?

Nice, thanx for the info, I'll see about getting that taken care of and reupload with those fixes.

Ok, the respawn interval may take me a little time to fix so for the time being, as Roozzz mentioned, set your mob's respawn interval to at least 0. Having a little trouble figuring out where the quest designer is getting it's default values from. 8)

200 afaik, and since the entire Storm DB is set to 200, I guess it is :P

Hmmm, we might wanna check this out - I think players are set to 191, perhaps thats why it seems mobs are running fast :D

Mobs where always to 200 on Storm, but perhaps improvment on the server made this value now more efficient.

But 9 is not a great deal, i think only preventing lag spikes.

I've fixed the respawninterval default. Now I need to know for sure what has been decided as far as default mob speed, 191 or 200? Once a decision is made I'll post a release of a newer version.

Also, does anyone actually use the maps within the program? Because if not I can remove them and drastically reduce the size of the installer. 8)

the maps are used to see the mapping in 2D of the zone you are targetting, i find them very interesting don't you ?

ex: here is what i get from cotswold with storm db (and same for all the zones ofc)

I use the maps sometimes. But I guess what I could do to save me some time is put the Quest Designer in one installer and the Maps in a separate installer to save me some time when I update the Quest Designer on a regular basis.

Any decision on the default mob speed? 191 or 200?

Check first post for updated installer. It does not include maps, they will be in a separate installer. I will get it uploaded and a link posted tomorrow. 8)

As you want DF, as you are the last who fixed bugs on QD, you do what you want as releases how you want :D

Ok, seeing that there is a debate on the Storm forum about mob speed I've decided to leave the default mob speed set at 191 for now. I can always update it later if it needs to be. But anyway, newest version available from first post. Have fun! :D
