"Maybe someone wants to complete the zones.xml and send it to me. It's just a lot copy & paste."

I might be able to offer some help, no guarantee, but let me know what you need done. That is if you still need help with this?

Here is a Public Gist of the current Zones.xml File

https://gist.github.com/Merec/7984720

You can either fork or just download it. The struct is very simple. Then complete it and send to me zipped via PM.
The current names are german, but I want all names in english.

Thanks!

I will try to get that!
Any results?
Currently, I don't have many times so I will test that when I can :)

I can compile the niflib with VS2013, I just need to look the api and open some npk files...

I write a small nif reader that convert it into xml (only a few nodes) :
binaries (requires VC++ 2013 runtime*) : http://virant.fr/~dre/reader.7z
sources with niflib (VS2013 solution) : http://virant.fr/~dre/niflib.7z

You can use it with "simplereader.exe <path to a nif file> [path to xml output]", example: "simplenifreader.exe D:/daoc/frontiers/items/boat_med_f.nif boat_med_f.xml".

Things are going forward!

What to do?
- draw trees more nicely
- double step drawing of fixtures, below and above water
- configuration for rendering fixtures
- render-speed optimizations!

yea, it was not easy to handle such things. I currently have some problems with the trees and the general performance. I don't know how to render all the trees (very) fast and very good looking. They have a very large amount of vertices I need to draw.
