Revamping pre-connect exchange between launcher and server

For the people that do know about the exchange the launcher does with servers, does anyone have any thoughts on beefing up the exchange? It's awfully weak in its current state, and I want that to change... apart from making players aware it happens.

Anybody else looked into this and had any thoughts on the current process?
